A complete conversion to a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 24kW condensing combi, with upgraded controls, radiator improvements and aftercare.
The homeowner’s need
A new heating system, within a short timescale.
The homeowner needed a new boiler fitted ahead of an EPC report. The project replaced an older back-boiler arrangement and also addressed a leaking front-room radiator.
The agreed conversion covered the gas supply, heating and hot-water pipework, roof flue, electrical supply and temperature controls. These elements were brought together as one installation, followed by safety testing, commissioning and handover.
The work completed.
Installation
- New gas supply from the meter to the boiler.
- Heating and hot-water pipework alterations, including condensate drainage.
- Roof flue and terminal, with coordinated roofing works, lead flashing and weatherproofing.
- New fused electrical supply.
Comfort and control
- Hive V4 Smart Thermostat.
- Six new thermostatic radiator valves for individual room temperature control.
- Replacement of the leaking front-room radiator.
- Removal of the former hot-water cylinder.
Testing and handover
- System drain-down, refill and venting.
- Corrosion-inhibitor treatment.
- Full safety testing and commissioning.
- Customer handover and completed documentation.
A change to the whole system
Hot water on demand.
The conversion changed how the home receives heating and hot water. The new combi provides hot water on demand, and the former hot-water cylinder was removed.
Hive controls and new radiator valves give the homeowner control of the heating schedule and individual room temperatures. These are confirmed installation improvements; an EPC outcome or household bill saving is not claimed here.
