A tank-fed back-boiler system converted to a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 30kW combi, alongside new heating controls, designer radiators and cloakroom plumbing.
The project
Updating the heating and the living spaces.
The homeowner’s project combined a change to the heating system with radiator and cloakroom improvements. The previous tank-fed arrangement was replaced with a combi boiler, providing heating and hot water on demand.
SwiftHeat UK supplied and fitted the new equipment and completed the conversion on 20 December 2025. The existing back boiler, storage tank and fire were removed and decommissioned, and the gas cooker was disconnected and decommissioned.
The work completed.
Boiler and controls
- Worcester Bosch Greenstar 1000 30kW combi boiler.
- System magnetic filter and shock arrester.
- Hive V4 smart thermostat.
- Removal and decommissioning of the former back boiler, storage tank and fire.
Radiator upgrades
- Tall black designer vertical radiator for the living room.
- Small white vertical radiator for the hallway.
- Black designer horizontal radiator for the landing.
- New heating flow and return pipework to the downstairs hallway radiator.
Plumbing and flue
- Designer cloakroom basin with brass mixer tap, matching trap and fittings.
- New water supplies to the cloakroom basin.
- New vertical flue and roof terminal.
- Gas cooker disconnected and decommissioned.
Coordinated work
A roof terminal, fitted with specialist support.
The installation included a new vertical flue and roof terminal. The roof terminal was fitted by SwiftHeat UK’s specialist roofing partner, RBR Building & Roofing.
Coordinating the heating and roofing elements formed part of delivering the agreed conversion. The project also brought together the boiler, controls, radiator pipework and cloakroom water supplies.
Heating that fits the home.
The radiator specification included different shapes and finishes for the living room, hallway and landing. The cloakroom basin, brass mixer tap and matching fittings extended the project beyond the boiler replacement.
The finished scope combined a modern combi arrangement with updated heating controls and selected home improvements. The photograph shows the boiler installation; radiator and cloakroom photographs are not included in this case study.
Warranty and workmanship

This project included a five-year Worcester Bosch manufacturer warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s terms and conditions.
Installation guarantee
A separate 12-month SwiftHeat installation workmanship guarantee was included.
