The project
A new boiler.
A connected heating system.
A heating system works best when its components work together. At this property in Poole, the work extended beyond replacing the boiler: it also addressed the electrical connections, control wiring and the way the existing heating and hot-water components respond to demand.
The existing gas boiler was replaced with a Strom 14.4 kW electric system boiler. The redundant flue was removed and the old boiler gas supply safely capped. Pipework alterations and system filtration formed part of the installation, connecting the new boiler to the home's existing wet heating system.
The accompanying film shows the installation and work around the appliance, pipework and controls. It is a showcase of this individual project; the specification for another home begins with its own assessment.
Working with the existing system
Underfloor heating.
Stored hot water.
Clearer control.
Underfloor-heating blending
A new blending valve and local pipework alterations formed part of the underfloor-heating work. The valve regulates the water temperature entering the floor circuits, supporting controlled warmth while retaining the existing underfloor-heating system.
Hot-water controls
The existing cylinder thermostat and motorised valve were incorporated into the hot-water controls. The cylinder and existing Grundfos pump were retained, and the immersion heater keeps its independent operation.
The aim was to coordinate heating demand, circulation and hot-water control within the existing system. The work did not rely on replacing every component to bring the installation together.
Planning your own improvement
Assess First.
Recommend Second.
This project demonstrates an electric boiler installation within a wider heating system. A suitable solution for your property depends on its heating demand, electrical supply capacity, hot-water requirements, existing emitters and controls.
We discuss running costs and suitable alternatives before recommending equipment. An electric boiler is one option within our whole-home energy approach; this installation does not establish a saving or the same specification for every home.
Based in South Wales, SwiftHeat UK Group Ltd provides boiler installations and whole-home energy solutions across the UK. This Poole showcase is one example of that project experience.
